Addressing Common Myths About DEI in Faculty Recruitment and Hiring

While observing and participating in recent discussions about the persistence of racism, discrimination, and bias in the academy, a group of university students drafted a document to address such concerns directly, in the hopes of facilitating more productive conversations. Building on this resource, the 2020-2021 Advancing Faculty Diversity Workgroup at UC Santa Cruz compiled the information on this webpage to address common myths that hinder greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in faculty recruitment, hiring, and retention.
