Guidelines for Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement for Faculty Candidates and Faculty Search Committes
The purpose of this webpage is to provide information to candidates for faculty positions and members of faculty search committees on how to consider and evaluate contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion throughout the faculty search process, including the Statement on Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
While observing and participating in recent discussions about the persistence of racism, discrimination, and bias in the academy, a group of university students drafted a document to address such concerns directly, in the hopes of facilitating more productive conversations. Building on this resource, the 2020-2021 Advancing Faculty Diversity Workgroup at UC Santa Cruz compiled the information on this webpage to address common myths that hinder greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in faculty recruitment, hiring, and retention.
