The rank and step held is dependent on degree and equivalent work experience. The criteria reviewed for appointments include:

MIN Education and experience at time of appointment | Bachelors degree (or equivalent) with 2 years of equivalent experience OR Masters degree (or equivalent) in related subject matter. | Bachelors degree (or equivalent) with more than 5 years experience, OR Masters degree (or equivalent) with minimum of 5 years experience in related subject matter, AND record of accomplishments in the field. | Doctorate degree (or equivalent) OR Masters degree (or equivalent) with 5-10 years experience in related subject matter OR Bachelors degree with 15 or more years experience in related subject matter AND expertise and record of accomplishments. |

Anticipate initial appt at Step 1 when candidate has min requirements only. May be higher based on additional experience. Initial appointment typically will not exceed Step IV. Additional experience may include a graduate degree, teaching credential, recognized training within the field, and/or years of experience in a related professional field. |
