What is the Associate Professor External Mentoring/Academic Coaching Program?
The Associate Professor External Mentoring/Academic Coaching Program provides up to $1,000 in one-time funds for associate professors to 1) meet with an external mentor at the home campus of the mentor, a professional conference, or at UC Merced; OR 2) to seek 1:1 coaching with an academic coach.
How do I access these funds?
Step 1: Fill out and submit the form below.
Step 2: The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Personnel will provide email approval typically within five business days.
Step 3: For external mentoring: Following the visit, please fill out the appropriate ACT reimbursement request. Please reference the VP-AP’s approval and sponsorship of funds for this reimbursement. This will route the approval to our office. For academic coaching: After our office approves the funds, we will work on setting them up as a vendor and will notify you once the process has been completed.
Reminder: All travel expenses, including airfare, hotel (up to two nights), car rental, gas, mileage, and meals (for mentor and mentee) must meet UC Merced’s travel policies.
Note: Funds must be used by June 8th of the academic year in which the request is made. Funds are distributed based on a first-come, first-served basis or until funds are depleted.
