UC Merced adheres to specific policies and procedures set forth in the UC Academic Personnel Manual and UC Merced Academic Personnel Policies & Procedures when recruiting for all academic appointments.

Academic positions are grouped by the University of California Academic Series. Those with Academic Senate titles are a part of the legislative voting body of the UC system which directs the educational function of the University and operates as a system of appointed committees run by and for the faculty.

To hire outstanding scholars, the search must begin with a strong pool of highly qualified and diverse candidates and progress with a careful selection process.
