Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
Working in close collaboration with the Chancellor, the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor is the chief academic officer of the University of California, Merced. In addition to overseeing all academic programs, including instruction and research, the incumbent provides leadership for campus administrative operations.
The Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of academic initiatives, as well as the infrastructure to support campus academic objectives. Among the broad array of campus administrators reporting to this office are the Deans of the Schools of Engineering, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts; Dean of Graduate Studies; Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, University Librarian and Chief Information Officer. The Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor also is responsible for the Academic Personnel Office, and UC Merced’s educational outreach centers.
Together with the Vice Chancellor of Administration, the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor directs the allocation of campus finances and the preparation of both annual and long-term budgets. Strategic Academic Vision
The Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor advises the Chancellor on critical campus issues and acts on the Chancellor’s behalf in his/her absence.
